Album Description HAIR, featuring book and lyrics by the late Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot, opened to rave reviews on Broadway March 31, 2009 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Under the direction of Diane Paulus, Hair arrives on Broadway after a run as part of the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park 2008. The cast of the Broadway revival of Hair features Will Swenson as Berger, Tony nominee Gavin Creel as Claude, Sasha Allen as Dionne, Caissie Levy as Sheila, Allison Case as Crissy, Kacie Sheik as Jeanie, Bryce Ryness as Woof, Darius Nichols as Hud, Megan Lawrence as Mother and Andrew Kober as Margaret Mead/Dad. With a score including such enduring musical numbers as "Let the Sun Shine In," "Aquarius," "Hair" and "Good Morning Starshine," Hair depicts the birth of a cultural movement in the `60s and `70s that changed America forever: the musical follows a group of hopeful, free-spirited young people who advocate a lifestyle of pacifism and free-love in a society riddled with intolerance and brutality during the Vietnam War. As they explore sexual identity, challenge racism, experiment with drugs and burn draft cards, the "tribe" in Hair creates an irresistible message of hope, peace and change that continues to resonate with audiences 40 years later.

Hair Revival August 30, 2010 S. Wells (Saco, ME USA) Really enjoy this album. Am disappointed that "How I Love My Hippie Life" is not on the album.
New Hair Got No Soul April 7, 2010 Zann (San Diego) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I wanted to try the new Hair soundtrack because I thought that the mix would be superior to the original. Unfortunately, the new Hair lacks any conviction and just sounds show-tuney. The male singers sound really corny and most of the female voices have a quality like Kristin Chenoweth, childish and cutesy. The original Hair was gritty and soulful -- stick with that one.
You've Got to See it On Stage!!!!!! April 6, 2010 B. Tween_DeLions (USA) I was lucky enough to see HAIR on stage in the early 1980s. I was sitting about three rows from the front. And in the last song---Let the Sunshine In---the cast came down from the stage and started pulling audience members up on the stage with them. It was a blast. It was a hoot. Unforgettable. And this audio version is the closest to my actual experience of seeing it live.
You must understand that I was almost 30 years old before I saw it live on stage. And although I was only thirteen when the original audio version came out, I was already thoroughly converted to hippiedom! And I have never been swayed. I'm still a young/old hippie to my bones.
Forget all the naysayers. This is the best audio version ever, in my opinion; and I've had two other versions, the original and the seventies version, all good, but this one may be the best.
I envy the players who get picked for Hair, because the directors force them to rethink themselves as human beings and performers. I'll bet it's a transformative experience just to be a member in the cast of Hair. What other broadway shows can you say that about?
An extraordinary audio version of an extraordinary musical. Download the lyrics and read along. It's an incredible experience.
Hippie music that truly rocks. January 27, 2010 Lisa M. Tharp Takes me back to that special trip my mom and I took to NYC just to see it every time. Absolutely amazing!
ELECTRIFYING December 5, 2009 C. Mckenzie I bought this a few months ago and saw the show in October. It's spectacular. I can't describe it any other way.
